If You Give a Move Your Attention
Attention turns one move into something you recognize, adjust, connect, and eventually trust.
Give one move enough attention and you begin to notice where it appears, why it fails, what connects to it, and how to use it with more confidence.
If you give a move your attention, you’ll probably start looking for it.
If you start looking for it, you’ll begin to notice where it shows up.
And if you notice where it shows up, you’ll find yourself getting there a little more often.
When you get there more often, you’ll start trying to connect it to something.
Trying creates information
Sometimes that works.
Sometimes it doesn’t.
When it doesn’t, you start to see why.
And once you see why, you’ll want to make an adjustment.
Adjustments create connections
And if you make an adjustment, you might find a different way in.
Or a different way out.
Or something else that connects to it entirely.
One move becomes a few things
And if you start seeing those connections, it’s not just one move anymore.
It starts to become a few things that make sense together.
Not every time.
But enough that you recognize it when it’s happening.
Recognition becomes trust
And once you recognize it, you start to trust it.
And once you trust it, you tighten up your transitions.
When you tighten up your transitions, you find more success.
When you find more success, you start to see it everywhere.
The pattern becomes hard to miss
And once you start to see it everywhere… it’s hard to unsee.
And once it’s hard to unsee…
You might give a move more attention.
See you on the mats.
